Why?

I've always loved to bake, but it wasn't until I was pregnant with my son last year that I started loving to cook, also. I decided that, since I was going to be a parent, I needed to start being more responsible for what we (my husband and I, and now my son) ate and be able to provide for my family in that way. I started buying cookbooks and experimenting with recipes on my own. I've never really been one to follow a recipe exactly (I can blame that on my mom). So I started deviating a little from certain recipes, putting my own little spin on them, adding certain things, leaving things out, etc. That's how everyone starts out, right? It has been a trial and error type of thing, that's for sure. But I decided I would share it with anyone who was out there reading this. And forgive me if the recipes sound awkward, as I am very amateur and still in the process of learning cooking terminology. Do I think I am a chef or some sort of great cook? Absolutely not. I am simply sharing recipes and techniques I have learned, which is something I wish more people would do.
